Winter is here and the colder it gets the more help is needed. Usage of the Food Pantry is on the rise again as the holidays are officially over and people’s supplies are getting low. Over the last 2 weeks we have had 34 people come into the pantry representing over 177 people in need of food. Your assistance with keeping our cupboards stocked is very much appreciated.
The Deacons food pantry is especially busy during these difficult economic times. We collect: dry pinto beans (1 or 2 lb. package); white rice (1 or 2 lb. package); canned corn (no cream corn); canned tomatoes, stewed or diced (seasoned OK); cold/dry cereal in bag or box, flour, and vegetable oil. Pantry hours are Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Volunteers are needed to staff the pantry when it’s open and to help out in other ways throughout the week.
